Tegne- og Kunstindustriskolen for Kvinder
Tegne- og Kunstindustriskolen for Kvinder, Art school building on H. C. Andersens Boulevard, Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Drawing and Arts and Crafts School for Women features decorative relief ornamentation and pilasters framing the windows in the Historicist architectural style.
Founded in 1876 with six students, the institution operated exclusively for women until 1961, when it began accepting male students.
The school provided formal education in visual arts and handicrafts at a time when women faced exclusion from traditional art academies.
After extensive renovations in 2018, the protected monument building contains twenty residential units serving as a refuge for women.
Charlotte Klein served as the first principal without salary while her husband Vilhelm Klein designed the building and chaired the board.
