Palads Teatret, Movie theater in Copenhagen, Denmark

Palads Teatret is a movie theater in Copenhagen containing 17 screening rooms with a combined capacity of around 2,600 seats. The complex runs daily film screenings in multiple languages and operates as Denmark's largest cinema facility.

The building was originally transformed from Copenhagen's central railway station after 1911 and opened as a cinema in 1918. Architects Andreas Clemmensen and Johan Nielsen oversaw this conversion, changing the structure from a transportation hub into an entertainment center.

The vibrant exterior walls were painted in 1989 by artist Poul Gernes, giving the building a striking visual presence throughout the city. This colorful facade turns the location into a gathering spot where visitors notice the bold artistic design as part of their experience.

The cinema is centrally located in Copenhagen and easily accessible by public transportation. Visitors will find multiple daily showtimes, and staff can provide information about ticket options and current offers at the box office.

Few visitors realize this cinema sits inside a building that once served as the city's main transit hub. The transformation from a railway station to an entertainment destination reflects how the city shifted its focus over time.
