Musikhuset Aarhus

Musikhuset Aarhus is a modern cultural center with ten performance spaces designed for different types of musical events. The halls, including the Store Sal and Symfonisk Sal, have specialized acoustic designs and can accommodate various musical genres.

The city of Aarhus commissioned architects Kjær & Richter to build this cultural house, which opened in 1982 and became an important center for musical performances. The building was created as part of a broader plan to develop the cultural landscape in the city.

The venue presents performances by local and international artists ranging from classical music to contemporary works. This range makes it a meeting place for music lovers from across the region.

The building is fully accessible for wheelchairs and connected to the Royal Academy of Music through integrated architecture. Visitors can easily navigate between the different performance spaces and find all facilities well accessible.

The complex also hosts the restaurant johan r., which organizes about 300 free concerts each year. These events offer an unusual chance to experience music in an informal setting.
