Theniet El Had National Park

The park encompasses 3,425 hectares of forests at elevations ranging from 862 to 1,787 meters in the Ouarsenis Mountains of northern Algeria.

The Algerian government established Theniet El Had National Park in July 1983 as part of a national initiative to protect natural areas.

Local communities maintain traditional practices within the park boundaries, including sustainable harvesting of medicinal plants according to ancestral knowledge.

The park entrance lies 2 kilometers from Theniet El Had city and 49 kilometers from Tissemsilt, with marked trails leading to observation points.

The park harbors 442 plant species and 445 animal species, including Atlas cedar forests and endemic oak varieties specific to this region.
