Basilica of Notre-Dame-d'Afrique, Catholic minor basilica in Algiers, Algeria.
The Notre Dame d'Afrique rises 124 meters above Algiers Bay, displaying white stone walls and Byzantine Revival architectural elements with 46 stained glass windows.
The construction of this religious building started in 1858 under architect Jean-Eugene Fromageau and reached completion in 1872 after fourteen years of work.
The basilica maintains an inscription that reads 'Notre Dame d'Afrique priez pour nous et pour les Musulmans', demonstrating interfaith respect between Christians and Muslims.
Visitors can attend daily mass at 18:00 and Friday services at 10:30, with the basilica remaining open from 11:00 to 12:30 and 15:00 to 17:30.
The choir section breaks from traditional church layout by positioning itself on the southeast side instead of the customary eastern orientation.
