Annelinn, Residential district near Emajõgi River in Tartu, Estonia
The neighborhood contains numerous five and nine-story apartment buildings spread across 5.40 square kilometers on the left bank of Emajõgi River.
The development of Annelinn occurred between 1969 and 1973 under the direction of architects Mart Port and Maie Meelak from the Estonian architectural firm Eesti Projekt.
The neighborhood maintains multiple educational facilities, including Tartu Jaak Petersoni Gymnasium, Tartu Descartes Lyceum, Tartu Kivilinna School, and Tartu Hansa School.
The Friendship Bridge connects the district to Karlova district across the Emajõgi River, providing direct access to the city center for its 27,755 residents.
The district layout follows an amphitheater design with ascending relief, positioning residential buildings in a circular pattern around the watermeadow of Emajõgi River.
