Koeru Church, Medieval church in Koeru, Estonia
The Saint Mary Magdalene Church features a baroque spire, reliefs on archaic pillars, murals, and a XVII century altar wall crafted by Lüdert Heissmann.
Built in the 13th century, the church underwent modifications including the addition of vaults, a porch in the 14th century, and repairs after the Livonian War.
The church cemetery contains graves of notable Estonian families such as Baer, Wrangel, Benckendorf, Wrede, Knorring, and Hoffmann.
Located at Väinjärve tee 1a in Koeru, the church opens every Sunday from 11:00 to 14:00 between June 1st and August 31st.
The church interior displays a large crucifix created by Christian Ackermann and contains narrow aisles supported by cylindrical pillars with decorative capitals.
