Tuvi park, Protected park in Tõnismäe, Estonia
Tuvi Park is a protected green space between Veetorni and Tõnismäe streets in central Tallinn, built across the grounds of former estates. It features walking paths through varied landscaping and is connected to Suur-Ameerika Street by a limestone staircase.
The grounds take their name from Tuvi Street, which was named after harness maker Hugo Aleksander Taubenheim who lived in this area. From the 1950s through the 1970s it was used as an experimental garden before receiving protection status in 2004.
The park served as a place for hands-on learning about nature and plants, welcoming visitors to explore different growing environments. Today you can still sense this educational purpose in how the gardens are arranged and planted.
The park has multiple entry points from the surrounding streets and offers different routes to explore. The limestone staircase is a good landmark for finding your way around the terrain.
The park preserves remnants of historic gardens with old trees that show how the original estates looked. Walking through these areas gives you a sense of the rural landscape that once existed in this part of the city.
