Avaris, Ancient city in Egypt
Avaris was the capital of Egypt under the Hyksos, located at modern Tell el-Dab'a in the northeastern region of the Nile Delta.
It was occupied from the Middle Kingdom to the New Kingdom, with its peak as a major international trading and diplomatic hub during the Second Intermediate Period.
Avaris was known for its diverse population, including Canaanite, Hurrian, and Minoan communities, reflecting its role as a crossroads of cultures.
Today, the archaeological site of Avaris offers insights into ancient Egyptian history and culture.
