Museum of Islamic Ceramics, Islamic ceramics museum in Zamalek, Egypt.

The Museum of Islamic Ceramics is a collection in Zamalek displaying over 300 ceramic pieces from different Islamic periods. The works are arranged across two floors in themed exhibition halls with detailed explanations to help visitors understand the pieces and their origins.

The building was constructed in 1921 as a summer palace for Prince Amr Ibrahim and originally served as a royal residence. It was transformed into a museum in 1999 and has since presented its ceramic collection to the public.

The collection showcases ceramics from Egypt, Turkey, Iran, and Syria, reflecting different techniques and styles of Islamic pottery across centuries. These works show how artisans in various regions developed similar forms but worked with distinct colors and decorative patterns.

The museum is located between Al Sheikh Al Marsafi and Omar Al Khayam streets and is easy to find. It reopened in October 2023 following a comprehensive 14-year restoration project and is now ready for visitors.

A marble fountain with blue ceramic decoration sits in the entrance hall and blends architectural elements with the museum's ceramic focus. This combination sets the tone for the visit and demonstrates how the art form is woven into the space itself.
