Aisha Fahmy Palace, Art museum palace in Zamalek, Egypt.
The Aisha Fahmy Palace is a museum housed in a palatial building in Zamalek, Cairo, featuring classical architecture with European influences, including marble columns, detailed carvings, and grand rooms overlooking the Nile. The building hosts permanent collections and rotating art exhibitions across several rooms spread over two floors.
Italian architect Antonio Lasciac designed this residence in 1907 for Ali Fahmy Pasha, whose daughter Aisha gained full ownership in 1924. After her death, the estate passed to the Ministry of Culture, which converted it into an arts center.
The interior spaces contain silk panels, European furniture, and Japanese-style decorations that reflect the international tastes of wealthy Egyptian families in the early twentieth century. Today these rooms serve as exhibition spaces while preserving the original furnishings.
The Ministry of Culture maintains the complex as an arts center, offering visitors access to collections and rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The rooms span two floors, so visitors should plan time to explore all areas.
The estate reflects the story of Aisha Fahmy and her relationship with actor Youssef Wehbe, which later inspired a film about their life. Her personal legacy remains visible in the collections and design of the rooms.
