Graeco-Roman Museum, Archaeological museum in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Graeco-Roman Museum contains more than 45,000 artifacts, including sculptures, coins, textiles, and mummy portraits from the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
The museum opened its doors on October 17, 1892, under Khedive Abbas Helmy II with 11 exhibition halls displaying Mediterranean antiquities.
The museum presents artifacts showing the integration of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian civilizations through statues, pottery, jewelry, and funeral ornaments.
The museum building, located on Fouad Street, spans 27 separate exhibition halls that display approximately 20,000 pieces from the collection.
The collection includes a white marble head of Julius Caesar and portraits from Fayum depicting detailed facial features of the deceased on mummy wrappings.
