Immobilia Building, Art Deco residential building in Downtown Cairo, Egypt
The Immobilia Building stands at 70 meters tall with two U-shaped blocks featuring detailed architectural elements on the intersection of Qasr el-Nile and Sherif streets.
The construction of this structure from 1938 to 1940 required 4,000 workers and cost 1.2 million Egyptian pounds, replacing a medieval Mamluk villa.
Numerous Egyptian performers and artists, including Leila Mourad, Omar Sharif, and Mohammed Abdel Wahab, established their residences in the building's 370 apartments.
The structure contains 27 elevators across its 13 floors and includes the first underground parking facility in Cairo, with space for 100 vehicles.
The initial rental rates of 6 to 12 Egyptian pounds exceeded standard market prices, leading management to implement specialized advertising campaigns for tenant acquisition.
