Immobilia Building

The Immobilia Building is an Art Deco residential structure in Downtown Cairo featuring two U-shaped blocks at the intersection of Qasr el-Nile and Sherif streets. The structure rises 13 stories with a total of 370 apartments and displays elaborate architectural detailing across its facades.

The building was constructed between 1938 and 1940, replacing a medieval Mamluk villa that previously occupied the site. Its completion marked a significant shift toward modern residential development in this part of Cairo.

The building served as home to many prominent Egyptian performers and artists who shaped Cairo's cultural landscape during the mid-20th century. It reflected how creative figures of that era valued living in the heart of the city.

The building is easily accessible by foot from major transit hubs and bus stops near Downtown Cairo. Keep in mind that this is a private residential structure, so interior access is limited and exterior photography offers the best way to appreciate its design.

When the building opened, rental prices were significantly higher than the standard market rate, forcing the management to launch specialized marketing campaigns to attract tenants. This detail reveals how the project was seen as a risky investment initially.
