Capital International Airport, airport in Egypt
Capital International Airport is a new airport located approximately 28 kilometers east of Cairo that handles international flights and cargo operations. The facility features three runways, each 3,650 meters long and 60 meters wide, allowing safe landings and takeoffs for large aircraft.
The airport opened its doors in July 2019 and was officially inaugurated on June 29, 2020, with a ceremony attended by Egypt's president. The project was created as part of Egypt's infrastructure development plan to handle increasing air traffic and support the new administrative capital.
The airport serves as a gateway supporting Egypt's expansion plans and modernization efforts in the region. It reflects the country's commitment to strengthening its role as a regional travel hub for business and leisure visitors.
The airport is conveniently situated near the Second Greater Cairo Ring Road, making arrival from different parts of the city straightforward. Visitors find taxis, shuttle buses, and rail connections available to access the terminal.
The airport was built by Hassan Allam Holding and is owned by the Egyptian Armed Forces. Its elevated location allows aircraft to land safely even in poor weather conditions thanks to modern navigation systems.
