Can Prunera, Art Nouveau house museum in Sóller, Spain.
Can Prunera is a three-story manor house in Sóller built during the early twentieth century in the Art Nouveau style. Its interior spaces and exterior facades display curved lines, motifs drawn from nature, and intricate decorative details throughout.
The house was built between 1904 and 1911 by Joan Magraner and Margalida Vicens, who accumulated their wealth through fruit trade and liqueur production in France. Their prosperity from these enterprises allowed them to construct a residence that displays the sophistication of their era.
The house reflects the tastes of wealthy merchants who filled it with European artworks from the twentieth century. Walking through the rooms, you sense how the owners lived and what they valued in their daily surroundings.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and displays different rooms furnished with preserved objects and period pieces. Visitors should be prepared for stairs and narrow passages in certain areas, making comfortable shoes advisable.
The basement preserves original service areas with vintage kitchen equipment, an olive oil storage tank, and a working well that still functions. These spaces reveal the daily workings behind the elegant rooms visible to visitors.
