Banco de Sóller

Banco de Sóller is a modernist bank building in Sóller, Mallorca, featuring a stone facade with two rounded galleries at its sides. The front is decorated with ornamental iron grilles and sits on Plaça de la Constitució facing the adjacent Sant Bartomeu Church.

The building was founded in 1909 as a financial institution serving the local economy during the region's olive oil trade boom. In 1943 it was acquired by Banco Hispano Americano and has continued operating under different ownership since then.

The building displays elements of Catalan modernism through its decorative iron grilles and circular galleries that define its appearance. These design features reflect the architectural taste that dominated this region in the early 1900s.

The building sits in the heart of Plaça de la Constitució and is easy to find next to the large Sant Bartomeu Church facing the square. You can view it from the outside while it continues to operate as a working bank branch, so plan visits during business hours if you want to see the interior details.

A carved stone lion with an intense expression sits at one corner of the building, originally symbolizing the financial strength of the bank. This figure remains a distinctive feature of the facade and draws attention to the craftsmanship visible in the stonework.
