Juan Carlos I Park, Public sculpture garden in Madrid, Spain.
Juan Carlos I Park is a green space with a lake, paths, olive groves and outdoor sculptures in eastern Madrid. The lake measures roughly 30,000 square meters (about 7.4 acres) and is surrounded by over 14,000 trees, including pines and olives.
The city government laid out this park in 1992 when Madrid was European Capital of Culture, transforming a run-down area. The site was planted with native and Mediterranean species and furnished with contemporary artworks.
The Garden of Three Cultures shows Islamic, Jewish and Christian influences through plants and architectural details that visitors can discover while walking. The stone arches and water basins recall garden traditions from different eras.
Visitors can rent bicycles, play paddle tennis or take a small train ride through the grounds. Canoeing on the lake happens under supervision and offers beginners a safe way to practice.
The Cold Greenhouse structure maintains specific climate conditions to protect plant species that require controlled temperature and humidity. This technical system allows visitors to see delicate plants year-round regardless of outdoor conditions.
