Illeta dels Banyets

Illeta dels Banyets is an archaeological site on a coastal peninsula that juts into the Mediterranean, revealing multiple layers of settlement over time. The location contains remains of dwellings, temples, and other structures built by different civilizations.

The settlement began in the Bronze Age and was later occupied by Iberian and Roman peoples, leading to different building phases. Each period left its own mark, making the site a window into the past.

Two ancient temples stand within the site, representing different religious beliefs that coexisted in this place. The structures tell the story of the people who lived here and how they practiced their faith.

Access to the site is through the MARQ museum, which provides informational panels and combined tickets with other historical locations. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and bring sun protection, as the site is exposed and open to the elements.

The Romans created a clever system of rock pools connected by channels to circulate seawater for fish farming. This early form of aquaculture shows how resourceful the inhabitants were.
