Platja de Mutxavista, Sandy beach in El Campello, Spain.
Platja de Mutxavista is a long sandy beach on the Mediterranean coast of El Campello, lined with fine, light-colored sand that runs for several kilometers. The shore is wide enough to remain spacious even when busy, and a promenade with restaurants and bars runs alongside much of it.
The coastal strip was mainly used by local fishing communities until the mid-20th century, with little development for visitors. When tourism grew along the Costa Blanca in the 1960s, the area gradually gained the facilities and access points that shaped the beach as it looks today.
The beach is a gathering point for families from El Campello and nearby towns, especially on summer evenings when people come to swim and sit together by the water. Long after sunset, the shore stays active with groups of all ages relaxing on the sand.
A tram line connects several points along the shore to the city center, so getting here without a car is easy. If you drive, free parking is available at several spots, but arriving early in summer helps you find a space without difficulty.
The seabed slopes so gradually here that you can walk quite far from shore before the water reaches your waist. This makes it one of the few beaches along this stretch of coast where you can wade far out without needing to swim.
