Jardín Botánico de Villa Marco, Botanical garden in El Campello, Spain.
Jardín Botánico de Villa Marco is a botanical garden in El Campello that combines different garden areas with distinct plant collections and design approaches. It features an Arab garden, historic garden, access garden, and Mediterranean section showcasing native plant species.
Villa Marco started as a defensive tower residence in the 19th century before French consul René Bardin transformed the estate with colonial design influences. This transformation shaped the foundation of what exists on the site today.
Two sculptures by Alicante artist Vicente Bañuls, titled La Noche and La Marsellesa, are positioned along the pathways and integrate art into the natural setting. They add an artistic dimension to the visitor experience as you walk through the garden.
The garden is accessible on foot with pathways connecting the different sections, making it easy to move between areas. Plan time to explore each section at a comfortable pace without rushing.
The garden includes specialized areas with rockeries and mixed forest sections that recreate local ecosystems of the lower Mediterranean zone. These areas show how different plant habitats can exist side by side.
