Aýna, municipality of Spain

Aýna is a small village nestled in a steep valley carved by the Mundo River and surrounded by tall rocky cliffs. Houses are scattered along the hillside with narrow streets that form the typical character of a traditional Spanish mountain settlement.

The village developed over many centuries under Moorish influence, evident in the carved wooden ceiling details of the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios chapel. Later Christian architecture was added, and the ruins of Yedra castle nearby speak to the area's medieval past.

The village name is officially spelled Aýna with an accent mark over the Y, following Spanish language rules to mark the correct pronunciation. This detail shows how the local community takes care to preserve its identity and connection to place.

The village sits on a hillside requiring walks on uneven terrain, so sturdy shoes are important for getting around. Shops and restaurants operate limited hours, especially on weekdays, so planning ahead or visiting nearby towns for meals is advisable.

The village gained wider attention after a 1989 comedy film called 'Amanecer, que no es poco' was shot here and featured in travel programs. Photographs from film scenes and recreated landmarks like a motorcycle sidecar and photo spots from the movie remain visible around town today.
