Cathedral of los Santos Niños Justo y Pastor de Alcalá de Henares

The Cathedral of the Holy Children Justo and Pastor is a Gothic church in central Alcalá de Henares with three naves covered by cross vaults. The side aisles feature tiercerons, and a central ambulatory follows Gothic architectural design principles.

The sanctuary was built on the site where two children were martyred in 304, with an initial chapel constructed in 414. Over the centuries, the structure underwent multiple reconstructions and evolved into the cathedral seen today.

The cathedral holds the rare status of Magistral church, meaning its canons must possess doctoral degrees in Theology. This distinction is shared with only one other church, Saint Peter's in Leuven.

Visitors can find the church at Plaza de los Santos Niños in the town center, where parking is available nearby. It is wise to check opening hours in advance or contact ahead, as these may vary depending on the season and special services.

The church preserves the incorrupt body of San Diego of Alcalá and contains the tomb of Cardinal Cisneros within its walls. These two figures have been associated with this site for centuries and continue to draw pilgrims seeking spiritual connection.
