Palacio de Rubalcava, Orihuela, Neobaroque mansion in Orihuela, Spain.
The Palacio de Rubalcava is a neobarocque residential mansion featuring three main floors with intermediate levels. The building sits within gardens enclosed by iron gates and masonry walls.
The mansion was built during the 1930s on the site where the former Abacial House of Santiago Church once stood. This transformation reflects how the city changed and developed during that period.
The palace is named after the Rubalcava family, who shaped it as their residence and left their mark on its character. Rooms like the Rose Salon reflect how the upper class lived and displayed their taste in these spaces.
The grounds are reached on foot with pathways through the gardens leading to the house entrance. The rooms connect via a central staircase that accesses the different levels throughout the building.
The central staircase opens into a hall with wooden coffered ceilings displaying paintings and tapestries featuring noble coats of arms. This decoration served as a way for families to display their lineage and social rank.
