Plaza de Toros de Bilbao, Bullring in Bilbao, Spain
Plaza de Toros de Bilbao is a bullring with a distinctive circular shape featuring twenty-four exterior sides and three floors throughout its structure. The facade displays semicircular windows, and the interior contains seating for approximately 15,000 spectators along with multiple entrances and updated facilities.
The original arena was built in 1882 under architect Sabino Goikoetxea's design and was initially called Vista Alegre. A major fire in 1961 forced a complete reconstruction, which was completed in 1962 and combined traditional features with contemporary improvements.
The building holds deep roots in Spanish bullfighting tradition while now serving as a space for diverse cultural and sporting events. Visitors can experience how this venue bridges historical practice with contemporary entertainment in the local community.
The venue sits on the slopes of Mount Uriza and features several conveniently distributed entrances for easy access. Visitors should expect varying levels and stairs when moving through different sections of the building.
The building was deliberately positioned on the slopes of Mount Uriza, which gives its location and visibility in the city a distinctive quality. This topographical integration was intentional and helps the arena remain visible and recognizable from various vantage points throughout the city.
