Founded in 1886 as the Municipal School of Music, the institution moved to its current location in 1928, designed by architect Antoni de Falguera.
The building combines Modernista and Noucentista architectural elements, reflecting Barcelona's early 20th-century design movements through its structural composition and decorative details.
The institution offers intermediate-level music studies from Monday to Friday, with visiting hours between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM at Carrer Bruc 110.
In 1944, it became Catalonia's first public conservatory, remaining the region's sole public center for advanced music studies throughout much of the 20th century.
