Monestir de Sant Miquel dels Reis, Renaissance monastery in Valencia, Spain
The monastery exhibits Renaissance architecture with two cloisters surrounded by arched galleries, stone balustrades, and a central church with a Latin cross layout.
Ferdinand of Aragon, Duke of Calabria and Viceroy of Valencia, founded the monastery in 1546 on the site of a former Mercedarian abbey.
The monastery houses the Valencian Library, General Department of Books, Archives, and Libraries, plus the Valencian Academy of Language in its restored spaces.
Visitors can access the monastery Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:30 at Constitution Avenue 284.
The church facade features Renaissance altar-like elements flanked by two towers with Baroque Solomonic columns and sculptures of the three Magi.
