The Provincial Historical Archive of León houses official documents in three buildings centered around the former León Castle, with shelving extending over 38,000 linear meters.
The Ministry of National Education established the Provincial Historical Archive of León on April 3, 1962, to preserve notarial protocols and state documents.
The archive maintains documents dating from 901 to 2006, including administrative records, legal protocols, and historical papers from various regional institutions.
Researchers can access the archive Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with 35 dedicated study stations available in the research room.
The facility includes a specialized library containing over 13,000 monographs and hundreds of periodical titles for historical research and documentation purposes.
