Las Tres Gitanillas Fountain, Stone fountain in Málaga, Spain.
Las Tres Gitanillas Fountain is a stone fountain in Málaga featuring three female figures dressed in Andalusian style clothing and holding fans with ruffled skirts. The stone material was sourced from El Torcal de Antequera, a notable quarry region nearby.
The fountain was designed in 1959 by Morilla and Ortega and carved by sculptor Adrián Risueño Gallardo, originally standing in Plaza de la Constitución. It was relocated to its current location in 2002.
The three stone figures depict gitana women and reflect the lasting connection between gypsy traditions and Andalusian culture visible in southern Spanish society today. Their representation in traditional dress with fans serves as a reminder of the historical presence of these communities in the region.
The fountain is located at Plaza del Poeta Manuel Alcántara near Málaga Centro-Alameda station and serves as a central orientation point. It is easily reached on foot from the city center and surrounded by cafes and shops.
The fountain spent nearly a decade stored in municipal warehouses after being removed from Plaza de la Constitución due to Metro construction complications. It was eventually restored to public view at its new location.
