The Castle of Montalbán is a medieval fortress standing on a hilltop roughly 100 meters above the Torcón River. It features a moat and semicircular towers that served its defensive purposes.
The fortress was built by the Knights Templar after receiving the land from King Alfonso VI. They incorporated elements from an earlier Muslim stronghold into their construction.
The castle displays characteristic features of Templar architecture through its pentagonal towers and pointed arches. These design choices reflect the military and spiritual values of the order that built it.
