The Provincial Museum of Fine Arts holds 1,200 artworks from over 300 artists in a late 19th century palace in central Badajoz.
The museum opened its doors on January 4, 1920, following its establishment in 1919 under the direction of Adelardo Covarsí until 1951.
The collection includes paintings by Zurbarán, Esquivel, engravings by Picasso, Dalí, and drawings by Federico García Lorca and Rafael Alberti.
Located at Duque de San Germán 3, the museum offers free entry and opens Tuesday through Sunday with extended hours during temporary exhibitions.
The museum houses the fifth largest art collection in Spain and represents the primary art gallery in the Extremadura region.
