Rosaleda Gardens, Rose garden in Parque del Oeste, Spain.
Rosaleda Gardens is a rose garden located in Parque del Oeste featuring approximately 20,000 rose bushes representing over 650 different varieties. The grounds span roughly 32,000 square meters arranged in geometric planting beds with organized pathways.
The gardens were created in 1956 under the guidance of Ramón Ortiz Ferré, who directed Madrid's parks and gardens at that time. The site evolved from this initial vision into a major collection of rose varieties.
The gardens host an annual international competition where rose breeders from around the world present and share their newest cultivars.
The best time to visit is from April through September when the roses bloom and operating hours are extended. Expect crowded pathways during peak season, particularly on weekends and fair weather days.
The World Federation of Rose Societies honored these grounds in 2006 with a Garden Excellence Award. This recognition reflects the high standard of care and curatorial attention given to the collection.
