Pazo of Oca

Pazo of Oca is a Baroque garden featuring two large ponds that form the central line running through the space. Sculpted stone figures and ornamental details are scattered throughout the grounds, creating a layered decorative landscape.

The building began as a medieval fortress in the 13th century and underwent major changes in the 18th century. Those transformations created the Baroque structure and gardens that exist today.

The gardens display intricately pruned boxwood figures depicting boats and people in different scenes. These sculptures tell stories of the sea and human virtues that residents have valued across generations.

Visitors should arrange access in advance by phone or email, as the grounds are not freely open at all times. The location sits in a rural farming area, so having a car is practical for getting there.

One of the most notable spots in the garden is an artificial stone island shaped like a ship. Standing on this island are sculpted sailors in upright posture, which creates an arresting focal point in the park.
