Torre de los Anda, Gothic tower in Alde Zaharra district, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain

Torre de los Anda is a solid tower structure made of stone and brick in the old quarter of Vitoria-Gasteiz with sturdy cylindrical corners and fortification-like details. The lower half consists of grey stone, while the upper section is built from brick and wooden framework, clearly contrasting with the base.

The tower was built in the second half of the 15th century as part of the defense system along the northern city wall. It originally stood near the Arriaga gate, which marked the edge of the early settlement.

The tower shows how wealthy families in Vitoria-Gasteiz built their homes with defensive features to display both security and social standing. The mix of stone and brick reflects building traditions that were common throughout the medieval city.

The structure can be viewed from the Plaza de la Burulleria, where the facades are clearly visible from street level. The interior remains private housing and is not open to visitors.

Arrow slits in the stone base reveal that this tower was truly designed as a defensive structure, not merely decorative. These openings remain clearly visible today and offer a direct insight into the military purpose of the original construction.
