Las Raíces, Historic site in El Rosario, Spain.

Las Raíces is a historic site in the Protected Landscape of Las Lagunetas, with a mixed forest of Canary Island pines and eucalyptus trees at approximately 1000 meters elevation. The woodland area includes basic visitor amenities such as restrooms within its grounds.

The site gained historical importance on June 17, 1936, when General Franco and senior military officers gathered to discuss plans for a military uprising. This meeting marked a pivotal moment that shaped the area's place in regional history.

The location holds meaning for locals as a place where history and nature meet, recognized for its cultural importance to the community. The forest setting serves as a space where past events remain woven into how people experience the landscape today.

The elevated location means weather conditions can change quickly, so bring appropriate clothing for varying temperatures. The grounds are accessible for exploring both the forest and the historical areas at a comfortable pace.

Photographer Adalberto Benítez documented the military meeting through images that became important historical records. These photographs allow visitors to see visual evidence of the moment preserved from that day.
