Cases Rocamora, Art Nouveau residential building in Dreta de l'Eixample, Spain
Cases Rocamora is a three-part residential complex on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona that spans an entire block side. The building displays typical modernisme features with ornate stone facade elements, multi-story bay windows, and distinctive roof structures.
The Bassegoda brothers designed this grand residential complex in 1917 with neo-Gothic elements reflecting the tastes of wealthy Catalan families. It emerged as an expression of local modernisme during a period of strong economic and cultural activity in Barcelona.
The five orange-tiled domes and stone sculptural decorations across the front show the fine craftsmanship of early 20th-century Barcelona architecture. Standing in front of the building, the elaborate details immediately catch your eye and convey a sense of wealth and sophistication.
The building sits on Passeig de Gràcia, a main thoroughfare with good public transportation connections and pedestrian access. The best view of the facade is from street level where you can take in the entire composition and all its details.
The building features an extensive five-story bay window system and a semicircular tower at the corner crowned with a cone-shaped dome. This unusual combination of bay windows and the striking corner tower creates a distinctive silhouette that shapes this area's skyline.
