Cases Pascual i Pons, Residential building in Dreta de l'Eixample, Barcelona, Spain

Cases Pascual i Pons extends across two sides of a city block with stone facades featuring paired windows and pointed arches throughout. Two distinctive towers anchor the corners of the structure.

Architect Enric Sagnier designed this residential complex between 1890 and 1891 for Sebastià Pascual and Alexandre Pons, wealthy Barcelona residents of the period. A comprehensive restoration completed in 1984 transformed it into insurance company headquarters.

The interior layout reflects the social structure of its era, with the principal floor designed for the owners while the upper stories accommodated tenants.

The building now houses an insurance company and can only be viewed from the exterior as it functions as a private business premises. The best vantage points for viewing the architecture are from the surrounding streets where the full facades and towers are visible.

The two corner towers contrast dramatically with each other: one circular and one polygonal, each crowned with different geometric roof designs. This contrasting approach creates visual tension that makes the structure instantly recognizable.
