Fuente de las Escaleras, Fuenlabrada, Public fountain and monument in Fuenlabrada, Spain

Fuente de las Escaleras is a fountain composed of three separate stair-shaped sections where water cascades downward and collects at a lower base. The monument sits within an elliptical landscaped island with pathways that allow visitors to walk around and view it from different angles.

Mexican architect Fernando González Gortázar designed this municipal fountain in 1987 as Fuenlabrada was transforming from a small town into a modern city. The work was created during a period of significant growth and change, reflecting the community's desire to build contemporary public spaces.

The fountain sits at the intersection of Calle Francia and Avenida de las Naciones, functioning as a central meeting point where neighbors gather and local celebrations take place. People come here to watch the water flow and spend time in the surrounding green space.

The monument can be reached via a cobblestone pedestrian path that winds through green areas and water features on the elliptical island. It is an open and accessible location where you can take time to watch the water play or simply spend a moment nearby.

The water circulates through a closed system powered by electric pumps that lift it from collection tanks to the upper stairs. Sealed lamp fixtures are positioned underwater to illuminate the water at night, creating a special effect after dark.
