Rastila manor

Rastila is a white wooden manor house situated on the seashore of eastern Helsinki, positioned near the Rastila metro station and adjacent camping grounds. The building currently operates as a restaurant serving meals to visitors of the neighboring camping site and local residents.

The estate originated as a medieval holding called Rassbölen, with the current manor building constructed during the early 19th century. The site was farmed for centuries and shows how rural settlements developed along this coastal area over time.

The manor reflects traditional Finnish rural architecture through its white wooden structure, which was common for estates in this region. Today it serves as a gathering place where visitors experience how such buildings connect people to the coastal landscape and maritime life.

The location is easily reached by metro and offers plenty of space to explore the surrounding coastal area. Visitors can use the restaurant or walk around the camping grounds and waterfront at a relaxed pace without time pressure.

Near the manor at Vanttikallio, Bronze Age burial mounds were discovered, showing that people lived in this area thousands of years ago. These archaeological finds connect the modern site to a much older history of habitation along this coast.
