Raittisilta

Raittisilta is a footbridge and bicycle bridge stretching across Vartiokylänlahti Bay, connecting several neighborhoods throughout Helsinki. The structure measures 416 meters long and 6.5 meters wide.

Construction began in June 2017 and opened to traffic in November 2018, ahead of the original schedule. This project expanded pedestrian and cycling infrastructure across the bay.

The bridge reflects Helsinki's commitment to sustainable transportation by providing dedicated infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists separate from motor vehicles.

The bridge is easily accessible for pedestrians and cyclists and integrates smoothly into the local traffic network. It offers a safe, vehicle-free route for daily commuting and recreation.

Two district heating pipes and a water pipe run beneath the main deck, showing how cleverly the bridge combines multiple infrastructure systems. An additional inspection platform allows maintenance work without disrupting traffic.
