The municipal office building features a light-colored façade with strip windows, street-level pillars, and a partial roof terrace reflecting functionalist design principles.
Architect Aarne Ervi designed this modern structure, which was built in two phases, with the southern section completed in 1967 and northern extension in 1975.
The council hall, protruding from the main façade, serves as a central meeting point for municipal decision-making and governmental activities in Tampere.
The building operates Monday through Friday from 08:30 to 15:45, providing administrative services to residents through multiple municipal departments.
A major renovation starting in 2023 will transform the building with a five-story extension while maintaining its protected architectural elements through 2026.
