Funiculaire du pic du Jer

The Funiculaire du Pic du Jer is a cable car that climbs from Lourdes to a mountain summit, gaining over 400 meters of elevation along its route. The track follows a steep slope and passengers can see the town and surrounding mountains throughout the journey.

The cable car began operating around 1900 to give visitors easier access to the mountain summit. Since then it has remained a regular part of tourism in the region.

The cable car provides access to viewing platforms where visitors can observe Lourdes and its surrounding landscape spread below. People use these spots to understand the scale of the Pyrenees and the valleys that frame the region.

The cable car operates during the warmer months and takes about 15 minutes each way. Each cabin holds around 80 people, so coming early in the day helps you avoid long waits.

The cable car runs on a single track but has a passing loop in the middle where the two cabins can pass each other. This design allows both directions to be served at the same time.
