Longjumeau, Administrative commune in Essonne, France.
Longjumeau is a town in the Essonne department, located about 18 kilometers southwest of Paris near the Yvette valley. The settlement spreads across gentle slopes where small streams and green spaces separate residential neighborhoods from older village quarters.
The town emerged from a Gallo-Roman village along the Yvette river and remained part of the Seine-et-Oise department until 1968. During this period the settlement grew gradually while preserving its rural character before joining the newly formed Essonne department.
Lenin established a political education center in Longjumeau during 1911, teaching selected members of the Russian Social Democratic Workers Party as principal lecturer.
Visitors can use the RER line C, which offers three stations near the different neighborhoods of the town. The old center lies close to Longjumeau station, from where you can easily reach older streets and public facilities on foot.
In 1911, Lenin established a political school here where he taught selected members of the Russian Social Democratic Workers Party as the main instructor. This episode remains a curious chapter in local history, though it left no visible trace in the town today.
