Musée archéologique du lac de Paladru

The Musée Archéologique du Lac de Paladru holds finds discovered underwater, including weapons, tools, and personal objects from ancient times. The collection spans two periods: Neolithic settlements and a medieval village with their preserved objects.

The museum covers two separate settlement phases: first Neolithic people living by the lake roughly 5000 years ago, then a village from medieval times. The lake preserved these places for millennia until they were recently rediscovered through underwater research.

The exhibition shows how people lived and worked by the lake across two very different time periods. You can see through the recovered objects what tools they used and how their everyday routines looked.

The location is best visited during good weather, since you can explore the lake surroundings. Plan a couple of hours to look through the exhibition comfortably and enjoy the area.

Underwater, researchers found wooden objects that would normally decay over time but stayed intact because of the wet environment. These rare finds give an unusually detailed view of the past.
