Sherwood College, Residential school in Nainital district, India.
Sherwood College is a residential school in Nainital district located in the Shivalik ranges. The campus spreads across 45 acres at about 6,837 feet elevation and is surrounded by hills and reserve forest, featuring smart classrooms, science laboratories, and computer facilities for its students.
The school was founded in 1869 as Diocesan Boys' School under Rev. Robert Milman and received its current name in 1937. This shift marked an important turn in the institution's development as an established boarding school in the mountains.
Students participate in societies, clubs, and annual events including Inter House P.T. Competition to develop leadership and collaboration skills.
The campus sits at high elevation in the mountains, so visitors should prepare for the altitude and hilly terrain. The separate residential buildings for male and female students are clearly organized, making it easy to navigate the grounds.
A MiG-21FL fighter jet stands on the grounds as an educational display, an unusual sight for a mountain school. The aircraft was installed in 2011 following an Air Marshal's commitment and serves as a compelling visual element for students.
