Museo Teatrale alla Scala

The museum exhibits a collection of costumes, set designs, paintings, sculptures, and musical instruments connected to Teatro alla Scala performances through time.

The institution opened in 1913 following the acquisition of the Sambon collection, establishing a permanent space to preserve theatrical heritage next to La Scala.

The Livia Simoni Library within the museum contains over 150,000 volumes, including a rare 1511 Venetian edition of Plautus comedies.

Located in Casa Ricordi, an 18th-century building, the museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM except for major Italian holidays.

The museum displays the Steinway grand piano that belonged to Franz Liszt and a bust of Nicola Tacchinardi created by sculptor Antonio Canova.
