Museo Teatrale alla Scala

Museo Teatrale alla Scala holds costumes, stage designs, paintings, sculptures, and musical instruments from performances at the neighboring opera house. The collection spans materials from different periods of the theater's long history.

The museum opened in 1913 after acquiring the Sambon collection and established itself as a keeper of opera heritage. It grew alongside the neighboring theater to document its artistic development.

The museum reflects the artistic traditions of Milan's opera world through its extensive collection of theatrical materials. Visitors can observe how costumes and stage designs shaped performances across different periods.

Among the holdings is the Steinway grand piano that once belonged to Franz Liszt. The museum also displays a bust of singer Nicola Tacchinardi sculpted by Antonio Canova.
