Giuseppe Piermarini designed the palace in the late 18th century to accommodate the archduke's family during theatrical performances at La Scala.
The building transformed over time to serve artists and house the La Scala theater administration, including a small theater called Piccola Scala.
The renovated Casino Ricordi now contains conference spaces, audition rooms, and meeting facilities, serving as a representation venue for Teatro alla Scala.
Architect Mario Botta added an elliptical tower above the building's roofs during the 2000s reconstruction, changing its architectural profile.
