Casino Ricordi, Museum building near Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Italy
Casino Ricordi is a palazzo built in Italian Neoclassical style next to Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Inside, a spacious square courtyard connects to a monumental staircase with balanced proportions and refined architectural elements.
The palace was designed by Giuseppe Piermarini in the late 1700s as a residence for archduke's families attending theatrical performances. It underwent significant renovation in the early 2000s led by architect Mario Botta.
The building served as a working space for artists and musicians connected to the nearby opera house for generations. Visitors can observe how the rooms were arranged to support rehearsals, performances, and artistic activities.
The building now contains conference spaces, rehearsal rooms, and meeting areas closely connected to the adjacent opera house. Access and visiting should be checked beforehand since it functions primarily as an administrative and event center.
An elliptical tower rises above the roof, added during the modernization in the 2000s as an unexpected contrast to the classical facade. This contemporary element completely changes how the building appears when viewed from higher angles or from a distance.
