Calolziocorte, Italian comune
Calolziocorte is a commune in the Province of Lecco, in Lombardy, positioned along the Adda River where it flows into Lake Como. The town is made up of several distinct neighborhoods spread across both banks of the river, mixing residential areas with light industry and commercial streets.
Calolziocorte was formed in the 20th century by merging two neighboring settlements, Calolzio and Corte, which had previously been separate villages. Before that, the textile industry had long shaped the area, using the power of the Adda River to run its mills.
Calolziocorte sits at the edge of Lake Lecco and the Adda valley, and many residents use the riverside paths for walking or cycling. The proximity to water shapes daily life and gives the town a calm, nature-facing character.
The commune is well connected by train, with the Lecco-Bergamo rail line passing through the area. If you are on foot, the paths along the Adda offer a natural way to move between the different parts of town.
The name Calolziocorte is itself a combination of the two former village names, Calolzio and Corte, so the town's name is a direct trace of the merger. Even today, some neighborhoods still feel like separate villages, each with its own small center and local rhythm.
