Foppolo

Foppolo is a mountain commune in Bergamo province located in the Lombardy region at approximately 1615 meters elevation. The settlement sits in the northern part of the province surrounded by Alpine terrain.

The village experienced a major avalanche in January 1977 that caused substantial damage to the community. This event prompted changes in how the settlement and surrounding areas manage mountain safety.

The local buildings show stone walls and wooden elements typical of Alpine mountain villages. You can see how these traditional construction methods shape the appearance of the settlement today.

Visit during winter months when the ski resort is open with multiple runs and lift access throughout the area. The connection to the nearby Carona Carisole resort provides more options for exploring and skiing.

The ski slopes descend from above 2200 meters down to 1635 meters, creating a substantial vertical drop. This makes it the highest ski area in Bergamo province, offering a long ride down the mountain.
