Andalo, Mountain resort in Trentino, Italy.
Andalo is a commune on the Paganella plateau in Trentino, sitting at 1040 meters elevation between the Dolomite peaks Piz Galin and Paganella. The settlement consists of several hamlets scattered across the gently rolling high plain and surrounded by meadows and conifer forests.
The area originated in medieval times as a collection of 13 separate hamlets called Masi, bearing names such as Bortolon, Cadin, Casanova and Clamer. These originally separate settlements grew together over the centuries and eventually formed a single administrative unit.
The parish church honors three martyrs and serves as the religious center for the roughly 1200 residents living on the high plateau. The building stands openly and forms a meeting point for services and church celebrations throughout the year.
The Paganella ski area offers 50 kilometers (31 miles) of slopes with 25 lifts, spread across different elevations and covering varying difficulty levels. The sports center spans 100000 square meters (25 acres) and allows for activities like swimming, tennis and ice skating beyond winter sports throughout the year.
The training facilities regularly attract ski teams from the United States, who prepare their athletes here for international competitions. This choice confirms the high standards of local infrastructure and slope conditions for professional winter sports.
